The God of Three Aunts is a little tale I wrote in the fall of 2007. At the time I’d been reading a lot of short stories by Gary Lutz, which may or may not be a good thing for me—such judgments can be left to you the reader.

For those of you who don’t know Gary Lutz, he’s an extremely unique writer, and by “unique” I literally mean “singular,” though I’m sure many people would simply find him “unusual”.  A simpler explanation would be: if you like traditional storytelling there are a host of better solutions for you than Lutz.

Though his style is very different than mine (presuming for conversation’s sake that the latter actually exists), I enjoyed aping him a touch, and though I’ll never aim to be the next Gary Lutz (remember: “singular”), I had fun playing around in his wake.
