This is the story of a young girl who is abandoned by her parents and subsequently adopted by a new family. As she grows into this new life Sparla navigates the challenges of family struggle while working her way through high school and slowly finding a path into a new life for herself.

Shooting Sparla is a new direction for me. What’s unique about this story is its form—if I were inclined to fancy-pants terminology I’d include some here [empty space]. Since I don’t find such things especially useful, I’ll note that though this story is grounded in a very familiar reality characters do all sorts of other things that stretch beyond the real as we typically experience it.
